The question
First job out of school. A lot of decisions at once. He starts asking himself something he cannot answer comfortably.
Vol. I
The paper of record for a question, and the company that answered it
No. 1 — 2026
Before it was a company, it was something Theshantha De Silva had to say to himself.
Before it was a clothing brand it was a question a man asked himself in a job that was fine. This is the whole of it: the question, the four years, the company that came out the other side, the mark it draws, the marks it claims, and the two doors anyone else can walk through.
Masthead
A masthead is a claim about who is responsible for what is printed. This is that, for a company rather than a paper.
Anything in brackets is a fact nobody has supplied yet. It is not an oversight and it is not a placeholder for an invented answer — it stays bracketed until it is true. The full corporate record is on the ownership page.
Chronology
The gap between asking and answering is the most ordinary fact in this company, and the one most worth printing. It was four years.

The question
First job out of school. A lot of decisions at once. He starts asking himself something he cannot answer comfortably.

The idea
If Not Now Then When gets named. It is still a thing he would get to.
2025
The company
The corporation is founded. The phrase and the mark are filed.

The answer
It becomes real and launches. Four years after the question.
The lead
He was not lost. That is the harder part to explain.
He was not lost. That is the harder part to explain, and the part that matters most.
There was a job, and the job was fine. It paid, it was steady, and it asked very little of him that he could not already do. Somewhere inside that steadiness he had settled — into a life that worked, and a version of himself he had quietly stopped adding to.
The things he once said he would build were still on a list somewhere. He had not abandoned them. He had done something slower and more permanent than abandoning them: he had begun to describe them as things he would get to.
The question arrived as an accusation. Not encouragement, not a slogan — an accusation, in his own voice, at the end of another year in which none of it had moved.
There is no comfortable answer to it. That is the entire function of it.
INNTW exists because he answered it instead of continuing to consider it. That is the whole premise, and it is not a marketing device. The company is the receipt.
He had begun to describe them as things he would get to.
Provenance
INNTW did not invent this question and has never claimed to.
Some version of it has been asked for as long as people have been putting things off — in speeches and in kitchens, in the margins of notebooks, at three in the morning by people who could not say it out loud yet. It belongs to no single text, tradition or person, and it never has. Anyone who needs it already has it.
What was new was never the question. It was answering it.
The question is not the product. The answer is.
Column
A column that will be wrong about something later, and is printed anyway.
I am not writing this from the other side of anything.
If Not Now Then When is not a thing I did in 2025 and then finished. It is the thing I am still doing, most days badly. It is the company, and it is also the reason I get up earlier than I want to, and the reason I keep a list I am embarrassed by.
Here is what is on that list right now, in the order I avoid it: taking this brand to the level I keep describing to people; becoming the healthy, fit person I have been about to become for years; reading more books; being less wasteful with the hours; giving my friends and my family more of me than the leftovers.
One of the things I am still postponing is the brand itself. I would rather print that than pretend otherwise. A company whose only real claim is honesty about deferral cannot round its own founder up to finished.
So it is not a philosophy I arrived at. It is a question I have to keep answering, and the company is what I built so that answering it once was not enough.

Founder, INNTW
The mark
Eleven drawn letterforms carrying sixteen letters. It is not a font, and it is not a wordmark set in one.
The phrase breaks into five sections — IF, NOT, NOW, THEN, WHEN — stacked into a block. The columns are shared positions: each letter in them is drawn once and read once, except NO and HEN, which are read twice. That is how eleven letterforms carry the whole question.
It is drawn, not typeset. Every diagram of how it is built is cut from the live path rather than redrawn, so the documentation cannot drift from the artwork.
The register
Narrow on purpose. The company claims what it made, and nothing it did not.
INNTW claims its name, the stacked mark, and the phrase as a trademark in connection with the goods and services it sells. It makes no claim over the words in ordinary use. People have been asking themselves some version of the question far longer than this company has existed, and that stays public.
What is ours is narrow, specific and entirely modern: five letters where a sentence used to be, a hand-drawn mark, the garments, and the way the story gets told.
| Mark | Jurisdiction | Status |
|---|---|---|

| IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN | Canada (CIPO) | [STATUS] |
| The stacked lockup | Canada (CIPO) | [STATUS] |
Posture
We are not interested in policing a question people ask themselves anyway. Write it, print it, say it, tattoo it. What we act on is narrower: use of the INNTW name or the stacked mark on apparel or related goods in a way that suggests a connection to this company where none exists.
™ is used throughout. No registration symbol appears on any INNTW property until a certificate has issued.
Channels
The company operates on more than one channel, and two of them are the ones that matter to anybody outside it.
01
Where the artefact is bought
Garments, made to stand on their own. If someone would not wear the piece without knowing what it means, the meaning has failed — so the meaning is never printed on the front of it. Small runs, and we say so plainly rather than manufacturing a countdown.
02
Where a reader becomes someone who answered
One page, one field. You write down the thing you have been getting to, and then you know it. Nobody is going to check on you — that was never the mechanism.
What grows out of it is a cohort: people who wrote something down on the same page, meeting in person, in rooms, on purpose. The community is the second half of the pledge and the part that is harder to do alone.
The six-month project the cohort feeds is documented separately. The Project
